Akumal is located on the Yucatan Penisula in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo near the blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. The water temperate at the time of year ranges between 75 and 80 degrees.
We flew into the city of Cancún, then shuttled about 105 km south to Akumal. We spent most of the week in Akumal diving except for one day trip to the island of Cozumel to dive the crystal clear blue waters there.
I dove a total of 13 times - 3 shore dives, 1 cenote, and 9 ocean dives. This was my first time diving in a non-certified environment, and it was great! I cannot wait to go on another trip - hopefully with some of my fellow divers who went on this trip.
I saw a lot of undersea life too. Since this was my first dive trip, I did not take an underwater camera. Other trip members did, so when I get a copy of those pictures, I will add them to this page.
