Tulum Pictures

Tulum is the only Mayan ruins near the sea. Tulum, located in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo on the Yucatan Peninsula, was a Mayan port from 900-1200 and is considered to be the principle commercial maritime port along the Mayan route from Honduras to the Yucatan.

There are many Mayan ruins in the Yucatan, but Tulum is a beautiful site due to its proximity to the sea. There is a beach that visitors can use to swim in the Caribbean. The ruins themselves are enclosed with a stone wall.
