Turquoise Lake 2005 - Leadville, Colorado

Located near Leadville, Colorado, Turquoise Lake is at an elevation of approximately 10,000 feet. The water temperature, on this occasion, ranged from 61° (surface) to well below 54° at a depths over 30 feet. The water visibility is one of the best in the state, although we only saw a lot of rocks and a few small schools of trout.

The SCUBA shop I frequent has an annual outing to Turquoise Lake, which includes a treasure hunt and BBQ dinner. This year, there were over 30 divers who attended and competed for prizes in the treasure hunt. Some of the prizes were a regulator, underwater camera, fins, dive shirts, wet suits and loads of small useful stuff like slap straps.

The BBQ and prize area before the rain. The prize table loaded with goodies. Horseshoes was a nice diversion from diving.
